I am pinching myself every day, but it's true! I danced in the theater of my hero, Marta Becket's Amargosa Opera House!
To learn more about Marta's work and her important (but sadly untold) influence on dance and art, click below.
There will be film! I can't wait to share this collaboration with Heather Goodwillie, Tim Goodwillie, Cat Auré

I am very honored to have been invited for a residency at Lake Studios Berlin. I will spend the month engaged in choreographic research. I have always admired Berlin's modern dance scene, and I can't wait to spend a month immersed in Lake Studios community! Learn more about them below:
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Angie Flanagan and I am, at heart, a collector of stories. I create both live performances and video collections that include dance, poetry and sound as a means to curate from the chaos the memories, stories, and the extraordinary in everyday life. I often explore poetry through different languages, most often French, as a means of exploring what can be understood, what is often misunderstood, and how image and gesture fill in the blanks. I believe the purpose of life is to discover the story only you can tell. We are all in the process of becoming, and my work is an homage to my fellow travelers and collectors on the journey of life.
I have been teaching and choreographing for 20 years, across the US, Paris and Berlin, and my happiest moments are in the studio experiencing the joy of movement. My classes combine Horton and Graham techniques with concepts from African dance and Flamenco, incorporating methods to unlock emotion, musicality, fluidity and a strong relationship to the ground. One of my missions as a teacher and choreographer is to exchange with other artists (in all fields). I seek to learn new mediums of teaching and choreographing with a goal to provide dancers of every age and ability the opportunity to not only train physically, but above all to discover methods of expression and to share a kernel of truth about the human experience.

Over Christmas, one of my favorite dancers came to visit and we got to reminiscing. We dug through old videos and rediscovered the piece I choreographed on her for the 2019 YAGP in Kansas City! With One Breath was inspired by a documentary I watched about free divers. They seemed to dance under the waves, so free and at home in a world as foreign as the moon...
This summer in Paris, I had the opportunity to study with the Japanese dancer and choreographer Juju Alishina! Click below to learn more about this inspiring woman, dancer and artist. I can't wait to work with her again.
My latest video, inspired by the Paulo Coelho novel The Witch of Portobello with my poem read by Tom Rolline. instagram: @tomrolline
Les 4 roses sauvages: A video I choreographed and created in collaboration with the French actor Thomas Rolline, who reads one of my poems, as well as dancers Eva Chronert of Canyon Concert Ballet, Taylor Ayotte, principal dancer with Carolina Ballet, Jaxy Emmel and Kendall Lawonn.
I had the incredible opportunity to work with two of my FAVORITE French artists with my choreography set to the music of Olivier Olier and my poem read by Thomas Rolline. Follow this amazing actor/ writer/ director on instagram @tomrolline. Discover Olivier's beautiful music at http://olivierolier.art
J'ai eu l'incroyable opportunité de travailler avec deux de mes artistes français préférés avec ma chorégraphie sur la musique d'Olivier Olier et mon poème lu par l'acteur Thomas Rolline.
